Job summary

GXO Knottingley is seeking a dedicated Shunter Driver to join our Verallia contract site. You will safely move palletised glass between local sites using Class 1 vehicles, primarily shunting with occasional customer deliveries. This full-time, permanent role runs Monday to Friday, 06:00–18:00.

Qualifications

• Must hold a full EU driving licence with C+E entitlement.
• Driver CPC and Digital Tachograph Card required.
• Minimum 2 years driving/shunting experience.
• No more than 6 penalty points and no disqualifying endorsements within the last 5 years.

Responsibilities

• Safely operate Class 1 (C+E) vehicles for movement of palletised glass between local sites.
• Carry out regular shunting duties including trailer movements and vehicle positioning within site boundaries.
• Complete occasional customer deliveries in line with schedules.
• Carry out daily vehicle checks and report defects promptly.
• Ensure loads are secured and transported safely per procedures and legal requirements.
• Adhere to road transport legislation, driver hours and Working Time Directive.

Job description

Are you a dedicated and safety-focused Shunter Driver who is looking to develop within a reputable organisation. Would you like to join our logistics team at our GXO Knottingley site working on the Verallia Contract.

To safely and efficiently transport glass products on pallets between local company sites using Class 1 vehicles. The role primarily involves shunting and inter-site movements, with occasional customer deliveries when required.

You’ll be working on a full-time permanentbasis, Monday to Friday between the hours of 06:00 – 18:00

What you’ll do on a typical day:

• Safely operate Class 1 (C+E) vehicles for the movement of palletised glass between local company sites
• Carry out regular shunting duties, including trailer movements and positioning of vehicles within site boundaries
• Complete occasional customer deliveries in accordance with company schedules and customer requirements
• Conduct daily vehicle checks and report any defects promptly
• Ensure all loads are secured correctly and transported safely in line with company procedures and legal requirements
• Adhere to all road transport legislation, driver hours regulations, and Working Time Directive requirements
• Follow all health and safety procedures, particularly those relating to the handling and transportation of glass products
• Communicate effectively with transport planners, warehouse teams, and site personnel.

What you need to succeed at GXO:

• A full EU driving licence with category C+E entitlement
• A valid Driver Qualification Card (Driver CPC)
• Be in possession of a valid Digital Tachograph Card
• Minimum of 2 years driving and/or shunting experience
• No more than 6 current penalty points
• No DR, DG, DD, BA, CD, AC, LC or TT99 endorsements with a conviction date within the previous 5 years
