Major Talent in Glasgow is seeking a reliable Shunter Driver for a busy food manufacturing site. You will move trailers, position them at loading bays and coordinate with warehouse and despatch teams to ensure smooth operations.

The role requires a safety-conscious driver with the ability to reverse trailers, perform safety checks, and maintain an orderly yard in a fast-paced environment. This is an on-site, full-time position with strict health and safety procedures.

Responsibilities

• Moving and positioning trailers around the site using a shunting vehicle.

• Carrying out routine vehicle and trailer safety checks and reporting any defects.
• Maintaining a safe, tidy and organised yard, following site traffic management procedures.
• Ensuring all movements are completed in line with health and safety requirements and site rules.
• Supporting the wider logistics operation when required to keep goods moving efficiently.
• Following food manufacturing site procedures, including hygiene and contamination-prevention requirements.

The Opportunity

We're looking for a reliable and experienced Shunter Driver to join a busy food manufacturing operation in Glasgow. This is an important role within the site's logistics and transport operation, ensuring trailers and vehicles are moved safely and efficiently to support the smooth running of production, loading and despatch. You'll be responsible for positioning trailers in the correct bays and loading areas, helping maintain an organised yard and ensuring vehicles are ready when required. The Role

About You

To be successful in this role, you'll be a dependable and safety-focused driver who understands the importance of keeping vehicles and trailers moving efficiently within a busy site.

Ideally, you'll have:

• Previous experience as a shunter driver or in a similar yard-based driving role.
• The ability to manoeuvre and reverse trailers safely and confidently.
• A good understanding of vehicle safety checks and yard safety procedures.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work alongside warehouse, production and despatch teams.
• A flexible, reliable approach to work and the ability to manage priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• An awareness of health and safety and the importance of hygiene standards within food manufacturing.
