Job summary

Dunbia Group is seeking a Class 1 Shunter Driver to join our transport team in the UK. This role supports the movement of trailers, coordination with subcontractors, and strict adherence to health and safety standards.

Training and career development opportunities are emphasized within a well-established food processing company. Hours are Monday to Friday 2pm-11pm with some Sunday shifts on an alternating basis.

Qualifications

• Experience or willingness to operate within a transport/depot environment.
• Understanding of Health and Safety policies and PPE requirements.
• Ability to liaise with multiple departments and subcontractors.

Responsibilities

• Move trailers in a timely and efficient manner within the Transport department.
• Coordinate with subcontractors’ vehicles and other departments.
• Ensure compliance with Health & Safety, Hygiene, and PPE requirements.
• Operate equipment safely following legislation, policies and procedures.
• Supervise yard activity and position vehicles when not in use.

Job description

We are actively seeking a Class 1 Shunter Driver keen to take up a career within one of Europe’s leading food processing companies. This is an exciting opportunity to join a well-established team and learn new skills and gain new opportunities. This role would be an ideal position for a recently qualified Class 1 Driver who is looking to gain experience and be trained.
The hours for the role are Monday-Friday 2pm-11pm - Also Sundays alternate.

• Working within the Transport department to ensure the movement of trailers is carried out in a timely and efficient manner.
• Liaising with different departments and coordinating sub-contractors’ vehicles.
• Ensure you fully understand and comply with company requirements regarding Health and Safety and Hygiene, including PPE.
• Operate all equipment in a safe and efficient way according to all relevant legislation, policies and procedures.
• To provide trailers for loading for both Retail/Abattoir & remove when loaded.
• To supervise yard activity, and position vehicles when not in use safely in the yard.
• To check temperatures of all trailers loaded on bays or on electrical points.
• To provide a list of trailers present in the yard to the Transport Manager.
• Fill in changeover list for the next shunter, i.e. what trailers are in the yard, what temperature they are running at, and where they are loaded for, and any empties.
