Job summary

Stobart (Part of the Culina Group) is recruiting experienced Class 1 Drivers for a Shunter role to move trailers around the yard, position them on loading bays, and support efficient operations. You will perform inter-depot movements, carry out safety checks, and maintain temperature control for refrigerated trailers while coordinating with teams across site.

The role offers a stable 4 on/4 off pattern with two shift options: Night 18:00-06:00 (£39,072.88 p.a.) and Day 06:00-18:00 (£34,347.47

Qualifications

• Ability to work to deadlines and follow safety procedures.

Responsibilities

• Safely shunt trailers between on-site zones.
• Carry out inter-depot trailer movements as required.
• Position trailers on loading/unloading bays to meet operational needs.
• Maintain radio communication with operational teams.
• Complete daily vehicle and trailer safety checks.
• Report defects, damage, accidents or incidents promptly.
• Ensure refrigerated trailers are at correct temperatures and monitor fridge diesel levels.
• Uphold high standards of hygiene and housekeeping and work safely.

Are you an experienced Class 1 Driver looking for a stable role with a great shift pattern and excellent earning potential? We are looking for professional and safety-focused Shunter Drivers to join our team.

You will play a key role in ensuring the smooth running of our operation by safely moving trailers around the yard, positioning vehicles on loading bays, carrying out inter-depot movements, and supporting operational efficiency at all times.

What You'll Be Doing

• Safely shunting trailers between designated areas on site.
• Carrying out inter-depot trailer movements as required.
• Positioning trailers on loading and unloading bays in line with operational requirements.
• Maintaining communication with operational teams using two-way radios.
• Completing daily vehicle and trailer safety checks.
• Reporting any defects, damage, accidents, or incidents promptly.
• Ensuring refrigerated trailers are set to the correct temperatures.
• Monitoring fridge diesel levels and ensuring adequate fuel is maintained.
• Working professionally and collaboratively with colleagues across the site.
• Reporting breaches of site speed limits by drivers or subcontractors.
• Maintaining organised parking areas and reporting any site housekeeping issues.
• Ensuring high standards of hygiene and housekeeping are maintained.
• Working safely and adhering to all company policies and Health & Safety legislation.

Available Shifts

Night Shift

• Salary: £39,072.88 per annum
• Shift Pattern: 4 on, 4 off
• Hours: 18:00 - 06:00

Day Shift

• Salary: £34,347.47 per annum
• Shift Pattern: 4 on, 4 off
• Hours: 06:00 - 18:00
