Job summary

Dunbia Group in Preston seeks a Class 1 Shunter Driver to join our established transport team. This role offers practical training within a leading food processing company and a clear development path.

Hours are Monday–Friday 2pm–11pm with Sundays alternating. You will coordinate trailer movements, liaise with subcontractors, and ensure health and safety compliance while supporting loading and yard operations.

Qualifications

• Recently qualified Class 1 Driver seeking experience and training.
• Hours: Monday-Friday 2pm-11pm; Sundays alternate.

Responsibilities

• Move trailers within the Transport department to ensure timely and efficient operations.
• Coordinate with sub-contractors' vehicles and liaise with other departments.
• Maintain health and safety and hygiene standards, including PPE, in line with company policy.
• Operate all equipment safely and in compliance with legislation, policies and procedures.
• Provide trailers for loading for Retail/Abattoir and remove when loaded.
• Supervise yard activity and position vehicles safely when not in use.
• Check temperatures of all loaded trailers and report findings to the Transport Manager.
• Fill in changeover list for the next shunter with trailer locations, temperatures and loading status.

We are actively seeking a Class 1 Shunter Driver keen to take up a career within one of Europe's leading food processing companies. This role would be an ideal position for a recently qualified Class 1 Driver who is looking to gain experience and be trained.

The hours for the role are Monday-Friday 2pm-11pm - Also Sundays alternate.

Responsibilities

• Working within the Transport department to ensure the movement of trailers is carried out in a timely and efficient manner.
• Liaising with different departments and coordinating sub-contractors' vehicles.
• Ensure you fully understand and comply with company requirements regarding Health and Safety and Hygiene, including PPE.
• Operate all equipment in a safe and efficient way according to all relevant legislation, policies and procedures.
• To provide trailers for loading for both Retail/Abattoir & remove when loaded.
• To supervise yard activity, and position vehicles when not in use safely in the yard.
• To check temperatures of all trailers loaded on bays or on electrical points.
• To provide a list of trailers present in the yard to the Transport Manager.
• Fill in changeover list for the next shunter, i.e. what trailers are in the yard, what temperature they are running at, and where they are loaded for, and any empties.
