Job summary

School-Home Support is seeking a Family Support Practitioner to be based at Ratton School Academy Trust, Park Avenue, BN21 2XR. You will work with school staff to deliver casework that promotes educational outcomes, and you will focus on improving attendance, punctuality and engagement in learning.

You will have excellent relationship-building and communication skills, with experience engaging families from diverse communities.

Qualifications

• Experience in an education setting or similar to improve a child's school attendance and engagement in learning.
• Ability to engage with parents/carers, children, or individuals through individual or group support.
• Understanding factors affecting a child's capacity to learn.
• Experience working with families from diverse communities.
• Holistic family support and safeguarding processes/referral routes.

Responsibilities

• Deliver a programme of casework to promote and improve educational outcomes for children and families supported.
• Work in close partnership with school staff to coordinate support and improve attendance and engagement.
• Focus efforts to help improve punctuality and engagement in learning.

Location: Ratton School Academy Trust, Park Avenue, BN21 2XR

Hours: 5 days per week, Term Time Only + inset days

Salary: £23,232 - £25,862 per annum ( This role is term-time only; the salary is in line with working weeks)

We are looking for a Family Support Practitioner to join our team and to make a difference in children's lives every single day. As the Family Support Practitioner, you will be based at the setting and work in close partnership with school staff to deliver a programme of casework to promote and improve educational outcomes for the children and their families we support. You will also focus your support to help improve attendance, punctuality and engagement in learning.

You will have excellent relationship-building and communication skills with a proven ability to communicate with a wide group of people.

You'll have previous experience of:

• working in an education setting or similar to improve a child's school attendance and engagement in learning


• working and engaging with parents/carers, children or individuals through individual and/or group-based support


• factors affecting a child's capacity to learn


• working with families from diverse communities


• holistic family support


• safeguarding processes and referral routes for safeguarding children
