Job summary

School-Home Support is seeking a dedicated SHS Family Support Practitioner (School-Based) to work within St Paul’s Trust School in Birmingham. The role focuses on improving attendance, punctuality and engagement, collaborating with school staff to deliver a programme of casework for children and families.

The position is term-time only, 35 hours per week plus inset days, with a salary of £22,274 – £24,796 per annum. A supportive induction and safeguarding commitments are included.

Qualifications

  • Experience in an education setting to improve attendance and engagement.

Position Overview

Our mission at School-Home Support is simple. We get children and young people back in school ready to learn, whatever it takes. We are looking for a Family Support Practitioner to join our team and to make a difference in children’s lives every single day. You will be based at the setting and work in close partnership with school staff to deliver a programme of casework to promote and improve educational outcomes for the children and their families, focusing on attendance, punctuality and engagement in learning.

Responsibilities

Key responsibilities include working in an education setting or similar to improve a child’s school attendance and engagement in learning, engaging with parents/carers, children or individuals through individual and/or group-based support, addressing factors affecting a child’s capacity to learn, working with families from diverse communities, providing holistic family support, following safeguarding processes and referral routes for safeguarding children.

Qualifications

Previous experience of:

  • Working in an education setting or similar to improve a child’s school attendance and engagement in learning
  • Working and engaging with parents/carers, children or individuals through individual and/or group-based support
  • Addressing factors affecting a child’s capacity to learn
  • Working with families from diverse communities
  • Providing holistic family support
  • Understanding safeguarding processes and referral routes for safeguarding children
