Job summary

Smart Solutions is recruiting a Loading Shovel Operator for a busy Energy from Waste facility in Cardiff. The role supports efficient movement and handling of materials across the site, with a two-month initial period and potential extension.

Expect a Monday–Friday schedule from 7:00am to 3:30pm and a competitive hourly rate. This position requires a valid loading shovel licence/certification and prior experience in waste, recycling, aggregates, quarrying, or construction.

Qualifications

• Valid loading shovel licence/certification (essential).
• Experience operating loading shovels within waste, recycling, aggregates, quarrying, construction or similar.
• Strong awareness of health and safety procedures.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Operate loading shovel safely and efficiently in a busy environment.
• Load and transport materials around the site.
• Feed materials into processing equipment as required.
• Manage stockpiles and ensure materials are stored correctly.
• Carry out daily equipment inspections and report faults or defects.
• Maintain a clean, safe and organized work area.
• Follow site health, safety and environmental procedures.
• Support site operations and assist with additional duties.
