Job summary

GoodPeople is seeking two experienced Machine Operatives to join a busy recycling facility in Sheffield. The role involves operating loading shovels and 360 grabs to move, load and sort waste materials safely, contributing to high material recovery and recycling.

Applicants must have prior experience with loading shovels and 360 grabs in a waste/recycling/industrial environment and hold relevant plant operator tickets.

Qualifications

• Experience operating loading shovels and 360 grabs in a waste/recycling/industrial setting.
• Hold valid plant operator tickets or licences.
• Understand mobile plant safety and site procedures.
• Reliable, safety‑conscious and team oriented.

Responsibilities

• Operate loading shovels, 360 grabs, forklifts and other mobile plant as required.
• Load and unload vehicles safely and efficiently.
• Move and segregate materials to support recovery and recycling.
• Complete daily safety and equipment checks before operating machinery.
• Identify and report unsuitable or non-conforming materials.
• Keep areas and machinery clean and debris‑free.
• Follow site health, safety and environmental procedures.
• Report equipment defects, incidents and near misses promptly.
