Job summary

Cancer Research UK is seeking an assistant shop manager to support the shop manager in a busy high-street store. You will lead a small team of staff and volunteers, ensure top-notch customer service, and manage stock and merchandising to maximise income.

You'll play a key role in fundraising activities, community engagement, and maintaining store standards while adhering to health and safety, safeguarding, and HR policies.

Qualifications

• Experience delivering great customer service in a busy store setting.
• Ability to adapt to changing tasks and work independently when needed.
• Commercial awareness with a focus on store targets and fundraising.
• Strong communication and relationship-building with customers and volunteers.
• Supervisory experience and understanding of retail/fashion environments.

Responsibilities

• Support the shop manager to guide and engage a diverse team of staff and volunteers.
• Oversee stock management, merchandising, and maintaining store presentation to drive income.
• Lead by example with customer and supporter service excellence.
• Help achieve targets for donated stock, cash, gift aid, and sell-through.
• Build relationships with the local community and Cancer Research UK colleagues.
• Assist in planning fundraising events to hit targets and ensure compliance with policies.
