Job summary

Cancer Research UK in Dumfries is seeking a motivated retail store assistant to run the shop on Sundays and to act as keyholder. You will lead a small team of volunteers, support fundraising targets and ensure welcoming, high-quality service.

You will review donations, help with stock, and implement creative ideas to boost income, while upholding safeguarding and health & safety standards. This fixed-term role offers a generous benefits package and the chance to contribute to Cancer Research

Qualifications

• Customer service experience in a lively environment.
• Experience working in a busy, retail setting.
• Ability to adapt and work independently or in a team.
• Strong commercial awareness.
• Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
• Flexible to rota-based weekend work.

Responsibilities

• Oversee Sunday running of the shop.
• Take keyholder responsibilities (training provided).
• Support volunteers and shop team to achieve sales and fundraising targets.
• Review and process donated goods and new stock.
• Generate ideas to create additional income with guidance from Shop Manager.
• Provide excellent customer service and make customers feel welcome.
• Maintain shop standards on safeguarding, compliance and health and safety.
