Job summary

Severn Trent Plc in Birmingham is seeking a Technical Operator (Shifts) to manage raw water sources, run plant processes, conduct on-site sampling and lab testing to produce drinking water to high-quality standards.

The role operates a 24/7/365 shift rota with an annualised hours arrangement and accompanying shift allowances; a full UK driving licence is required, plus training through an internal bootcamp or Level 2 Water Process Operator Apprenticeship.

Qualifications

• Water treatment process knowledge/experience required.
• Shift work experience is essential.
• Full UK driving licence is required.
• Willing to complete internal bootcamp or Level 2 Water Process Operator Apprenticeship.
• Experience with HMI/SCADA systems and data interpretation.
• Commitment to Health and Safety.
• Experience of writing and following systems of work.
• Experience of operating distribution systems if role requires.

Responsibilities

• Own site performance, including power efficiency, water quality, chemical optimisation and asset availability.
• Monitor complex treatment processes using SCADA/PRISM.
• Optimize treatment processes to meet customer demands and quality changes.
• Ensure chemical stocks are managed to meet production needs.
• Review water quality trends and asset performance; take action to prevent failure.
• Complete on-site testing to provide assurance of the treatment process.
