Job summary

Solenis is hiring a Shift Production Operator in Low Moor, Bradford, West Yorkshire. The role involves monitoring and controlling chemical plant processes to ensure safe operation and consistent product quality.

You will work across field and control systems, with a focus on safety, environmental compliance and effective handovers. As part of a cross-functional team, you’ll read P&IDs and SDS, follow SOPs, and participate in drills and emergencies.

Qualifications

• GCSEs in English, Maths and Science (Grade 5+) or equivalent.
• Process or Engineering Apprenticeship preferred.
• Experience in a chemical, petrochemical or industrial manufacturing environment advantageous.
• Understanding of hazardous materials and process safety management (PSM).
• Ability to read P&IDs, operating procedures and safety data sheets (SDS).
• Strong teamwork, communication and safety-first mindset.

Responsibilities

• Operate, monitor and control chemical plant equipment including pumps, valves, reactors, tanks and distillation systems.
• Start up, shut down and adjust processes in line with SOPs and safety procedures.
• Maintain high standards of safety, environmental compliance and housekeeping.
• Act as a Competent Person for issuing General Permits in your area.
• Respond to spills, equipment issues and unsafe conditions.
• Support emergency response procedures and participate in drills.
• Carry out routine inspections, sampling and quality checks.
• Communicate effectively during shift handovers and work closely with operations, maintenance and engineering teams.
