Job summary

Solenis is seeking a Shift Production Operator for its Low Moor site in Bradford, West Yorkshire. The role covers rotating days and nights, weekends, and bank holidays, focusing on safe operation, product quality and compliance with safety and environmental standards.

You will operate field and control systems, respond to process changes, and work with operations, maintenance and engineering teams to ensure continuous and efficient plant performance.

Qualifications

• GCSEs (English, Maths, Science) with Grade 5 or above.
• Process or Engineering Apprenticeship preferred.
• Experience in chemical/petrochemical/industrial manufacturing advantageous.
• Understanding of hazardous materials and process safety management (PSM).
• Ability to read P&IDs, SOPs and SDS.
• Strong teamwork, communication and safety-first mindset.

Responsibilities

• Operate, monitor and control chemical plant equipment (pumps, valves, reactors, tanks, distillation).
• Start up, shut down and adjust processes per SOPs and safety procedures.
• Maintain high standards of safety, environmental compliance and housekeeping.
• Issue General Permits as Competent Person in area.
• Respond to spills, equipment issues and unsafe conditions.
• Assist with emergency response procedures and drills.
• Carry out routine inspections, sampling and quality checks.
• Communicate effectively during shift handovers with operations, maintenance and engineering teams.

The Role

As a Production Operator you will monitor and control plant processes to ensure safe operation, consistent product quality and compliance with all safety, health and environmental standards. You'll operate both in the field and via control systems, responding proactively to process changes and plant conditions.

Key Responsibilities

• Operate, monitor and control chemical plant equipment including pumps, valves, reactors, tanks and distillation systems
• Start up, shut down and adjust processes in line with SOPs and safety procedures
• Maintain high standards of safety, environmental compliance and housekeeping
• Act as a Competent Person for issuing General Permits in your area
• Respond to spills, equipment issues and unsafe conditions
• Support emergency response procedures and participate in drills
• Carry out routine inspections, sampling and quality checks
• Communicate effectively during shift handovers and work closely with operations, maintenance and engineering teams

What You'll Bring

• GCSEs (Grade 5 or above) in English, Math's and Science (or equivalent)
• Process or Engineering Apprenticeship preferred
• Experience in a chemical, petrochemical or industrial manufacturing environment advantageous
• Understanding of hazardous materials and process safety management (PSM)
• Ability to read P&IDs, operating procedures and safety data sheets (SDS)
• Strong teamwork, communication and safety-first mindset
