Northern is seeking a Shift Engineering Manager for the Shipley TrainCare Centre. You will lead safe, efficient maintenance and train presentation across shifts, setting tone and ensuring the network runs smoothly.

This role demands decisive leadership in a fast-moving, safety-critical environment, with a focus on safety, quality and continuous improvement. Shipley is a brand-new facility offering growth and development opportunities.

Qualifikationen

• Experience in an engineering environment with a track record of leading teams.
• Engineering qualification at Level 3 (ONC/HNC) or working towards it.
• NEBOSH certificate or working towards it.
• Confidence making decisions in a fast-moving operational setting.
• Strong communication to build trust across teams.
• Focus on safety, quality and doing things the right way.

Aufgaben

• Provide leadership to TrainCare Centre (TCC) teams.
• Ensure trains are ready when needed – safely and reliably.
• Act as safety role model; maintain clear maintenance/engineering standards.
• Lead TCC operations during shifts and deliver the production plan.
• Coach, develop and support colleagues; manage competence and succession.
• Oversee planning, vehicle movements and use of engineering systems to meet workload plans.
