Northern is hiring a Multiskilled Maintenance Engineer- Armed Forces at the Shipley TrainCare Centre. The role involves hands-on fault diagnosis, repair work and preventive maintenance on trains to safety standards.

You will join a safety-critical, 24/7 operation with shifts including days, nights and weekends. A recognised apprenticeship or NVQ Level 3 in engineering or equivalent military qualifications are required, with strong mechanical and electrical knowledge.

Qualifikationen

• Apprenticeship or NVQ Level 3 in engineering or military equivalent.
• Strong understanding of mechanical and electrical systems.
• Ability to read and follow technical and safety instructions.
• Confident working independently and managing workload.
• Good communication and team-focused approach.

Aufgaben

• Carrying out planned maintenance, fault diagnosis and repairs to trains.
• Deliver servicing, maintenance and overhaul to facility standards.
• Diagnose faults and apply mechanical/electrical knowledge to fix them.
• Sign off work accurately and take responsibility for completion.
• Work with Team Leader to prioritise tasks.
• Use tools and materials safely and maintain equipment.
• Carry out minor repairs to plant and equipment as needed.
• Maintain a clean, safe work area and share knowledge with teammates.
• Provide on-the-job guidance to apprentices and trainees.
