Job summary

West Burton Energy seeks a Shift Operations Technician to support the 24/7 operation of the CCGT plant and storage assets. You will monitor and operate plant equipment, perform routine testing, and diagnose faults to maximise reliability and efficiency.

The role requires working shifts, including nights and weekends, and a collaborative approach with maintenance, grid, and operations teams to meet safety and performance targets.

Qualifications

• Experience in operating a power station or major industrial plant.
• Good understanding of health, safety and environmental requirements.
• Ability to diagnose plant issues and implement practical solutions.
• Strong communication with internal and external stakeholders.
• Commitment to safe systems of work and continuous improvement.
• Ability to work within a lean organisation and meet performance targets.

Responsibilities

• Operate the CCGT plant safely and reliably to maximise availability.
• Monitor plant performance, diagnose faults and coordinate with maintenance teams.
• Record operational data and support incident investigations.
• Perform mechanical and electrical isolation as required under safety rules.
• Communicate with Grid, Commercial Ops and local stakeholders.
• Support 24/7 operations including nights, weekends and holidays.
• Contribute to Safe System of Work and emergency response readiness.
• Share knowledge to help develop colleagues and achieve targets.
