Job summary

FCC Environment, a leading waste and resource management company in the UK, is hiring an Assistant Shift Operations Technician for an Energy from Waste facility in Cheshire. You will support safe operation of high-pressure boiler, steam turbine generator and related plant equipment, under the Shift Manager, aiming to maximise reliability, flexibility and safety.

This full-time role involves rotating 12-hour shifts, inspections, data recording, environmental compliance, and assisting maintenance.

Qualifications

Experience in an Energy from Waste plant or heavy industrial environment.
Ability to read and understand functional diagrams and technical documentation.
Strong health, safety and environmental awareness and practices.
Full UK driving licence and able to work flexibly across shifts.

Responsibilities

Assist with safe and efficient operation of the plant during normal running, start-up, shutdown and emergencies.
Carry out routine plant inspections and monitor equipment performance.
Ensure compliance with environmental permits and report incidents.
Support maintenance through first-line fault diagnosis and operational assistance.
Assist in returning plant equipment to service after maintenance or outages.
