Job summary

RWE Generation UK is seeking a full-time, permanent Operations Technician to contribute to day-to-day plant operation and maintenance at the power station. You will operate the plant both locally and from the control room, perform fault diagnosis, and support outages and recommissioning.

The role expands to maintenance as renewables grow, with emphasis on safety and compliance. Training, development opportunities, and a supportive team environment are provided.

Qualifications

• Recognised engineering or operations background in electrical, mechanical or C&I.
• HNC/ONC or equivalent qualification.
• Experience with operations and/or maintenance in power plants is preferred.
• Good IT literacy and experience with maintenance systems.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to day-to-day operational and maintenance requirements.
• Operate the plant locally and from the control room for safe, reliable performance.
• Carry out plant routines, fault diagnosis and breakdown recovery.
• Perform shift-based operations and support outages/recommissioning.
• Assist with maintenance routines as renewables expansion continues.

About the role

• Contribute towards delivering the day-to-day Operational and Maintenance requirements.
• To maximise the safe, reliable and commercial performance of the power station, be responsible for operating the plant both locally and from the control room.
• Carry out plant operational routines in line with procedures, including fault diagnosis and breakdown recovery.
• Perform operational duties on a shift basis as required.
• Collaborate with Engineering & Outage teams, supporting plant shutdowns and recommissioning as required.
• Carry out maintenance routines as an increasing part of the core role as the trend towards increasing volumes of renewable generation continues.

Job requirements and experience

• Have a recognised engineering or operations background or craft skill in an electrical, mechanical or C & I discipline. HNC or ONC or equivalent.
• Competent in aspects of operations and / or maintenance, preferably within power plants.
• Have strong interpersonal skills and be competent in the use IT systems such as Microsoft Office and have previous experience of a Maintenance Management System.
• Be a self-motivated, flexible individual able to work with the minimum of supervision, whilst being capable of providing support to the team.
• Demonstrable knowledge and experience of Health, Safety and Environmental legislation, regulations and directives
• Knowledge of power generation safety management systems including system Safety Rules would be an advantage.
