Job summary

RWE Generation UK is seeking an engineer or technician to contribute to day-to-day Operational and Maintenance requirements at our power station. You will operate the plant both locally and from the control room, carry out routines, diagnose faults and support plant shutdowns and recommissioning.

The role offers hands-on experience with modern equipment, opportunities for career development, and a safety-focused, collaborative environment within a trusted energy company.

Qualifications

• Engineering/operations background or craft skill in electrical, mechanical or C&I disciplines.
• HNC/ONC or equivalent.
• Experience with operations and/or maintenance in power plants.
• Good IT literacy including MS Office and a Maintenance Management System.

Responsibilities

• Operate the plant locally and from the control room to maximise safe, reliable performance.
• Carry out plant routines, fault diagnosis and breakdown recovery.
• Perform shift-based operational duties as required.
• Support shutdowns, recommissioning and maintenance activities with Engineering & Outage teams.

About the role

Contribute towards delivering the day-to-day Operational and Maintenance requirements.

To maximise the safe, reliable and commercial performance of the power station, be responsible for operating the plant both locally and from the control room.

Carry out plant operational routines in line with procedures, including fault diagnosis and breakdown recovery.

Perform operational duties on a shift basis as required.

Collaborate with Engineering & Outage teams, supporting plant shutdowns and recommissioning as required.

Carry out maintenance routines as an increasing part of the core role as the trend towards increasing volumes of renewable generation continues.

Job requirements and experience

• Have a recognised engineering or operations background or craft skill in an electrical, mechanical or C & I discipline. HNC or ONC or equivalent.
• Competent in aspects of operations and / or maintenance, preferably within power plants.
• Have strong interpersonal skills and be competent in the use IT systems such as Microsoft Office and have previous experience of a Maintenance Management System.
• Be a self-motivated, flexible individual able to work with the minimum of supervision, whilst being capable of providing support to the team.
• Demonstrable knowledge and experience of Health, Safety and Environmental legislation, regulations and directives
• Knowledge of power generation safety management systems including system Safety Rules would be an advantage.
