Job summary

RWE Generation UK is offering a Control & Instrumentation Engineering Placement Programme within the Engineering & Outage team. Based at Didcot, Staythorpe, Pembroke or Little Barford, you will provide engineering support to operate power stations safely and efficiently.

You will undertake data analysis, support asset integrity initiatives, assist in large outage work packages, and gain hands-on experience with professional development courses.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a BEng or MEng Engineering or Science degree at undergraduate level.
• Degree must include an industrial placement year.
• Willingness to travel around the UK and potentially Europe, with overnight stays.
• Expenses will be covered for travel.
• 25 days annual leave plus bank holidays, pro-rata.

• Build your expertise through real-world, hands-on experience and practical training, complemented by professional development courses and workshops.
• Gain direct exposure to industry practices while developing technical knowledge and transferable skills that enhance future career opportunities.

RWE's Gas Engineering and Outage (E&O) Group supports our European RWE portfolio in the UK, Netherlands and Germany. We support and manage all aspects of C&I (Control & Instrumentation) work across outages and projects at the CCGT Power plants.

About the role

• Be based at any of the following RWE Generation sites: Pembroke, Staythorpe, Didcot or Little Barford.

Job requirements and experience

• Ideally, you should be pursuing a BEng or MEng Engineering or Science degree at an undergraduate level.
• Your degree should include an industrial placement year to meet the requirements for this role.
• Willingness to travel around the UK and potentially Europe, with overnight stays away from your base location. Expenses will be covered for this.

The Assessment Centre will take place on Tuesday 24th November 2026 face to face at DoubleTree by Hilton Swindon, Lydiard Fields, Great Western Way, Swindon, Wilts SN5 8UZ. Accommodation will be booked on your behalf and travel subsidised by RWE. The evening prior to the Assessment Centre a meal will be held at DoubleTree by Hilton which you will be required to attend.
