Job summary

Equans is seeking a Shift Mechanical Engineer to join the team at Midland Metropolitan University Hospital (MMUH) in Smethwick. This full-time role operates a shift rota of 2 days (7am–7pm), 2 nights (7pm–7am), followed by 4 days off, with a salary of £32,000–£35,000 and a shift allowance plus benefits.

You will maintain ventilation, pumps, boilers and medical gas systems, respond to reactive faults, and coordinate with the Helpdesk and other teams to ensure service continuity on site.

Qualifications

• City & Guilds/NVQ Level 2 and 3 required.
• Recognised apprenticeship in engineering discipline.

Responsibilities

• Work on ventilation, pumps, boilers, medical gases, and HVAC systems.
• Respond to reactive tasks, diagnose faults, and perform repairs.
• Handle nightshift BMS alerts and coordinate with the team.
• Ensure records are handed over for continuity.
• Complete Planned Preventative Maintenance per programme.
