Job summary

EQUANS is seeking a Shift Mechanical Engineer to join our team at the Sandwell and West Birmingham Hospitals contract. The role is full-time, based in Smethwick, with a 40.25-hour week on a 2 days on (7am-7pm), 2 nights on (7pm-7am), then 4 days off rota.

We offer a competitive salary with a shift allowance and benefits package. You will work on complex mechanical systems and be part of a supportive, safety-conscious maintenance team.

Qualifications

• Maintenance experience in a site or facility environment.
• DBS Standard check required and must pass.
• Evidence of right to work in the UK is required.
• Knowledge of ventilation, pumps, compressors, boilers, heating systems, and domestic water systems.

Responsibilities

• Work on ventilation, pumps, compressors, boilers, medical gases, heating systems and water services.
• Respond to reactive maintenance tasks with diagnostic and fault-finding on complex mechanical systems.
• Respond to BMS alerts during night shifts and coordinate with the team.
• Ensure handover of records to Helpdesk at shift start for continuity.
• Acquire Competent Person status for complex systems after training.
• Carry out Planned Preventative Maintenance across site per programme and training.
