Job Description

We are currently recruiting for an experienced Shift Manager to strengthen our depot operations management team.

In this role, you will work closely with our self-employed Owner Drivers (ODs) and employed Drivers, building strong relationships, keeping drivers engaged, well-managed, and motivated to ensure outstanding service is delivered.

Key responsibilities include:

• Achieving depot targets for Core Routes and Stops Per Route (SPR)
• Properly setting all delivery and collection routes
• Ensuring drivers scan and load their vans safely, timely, and efficiently
• Maintaining ongoing communication with drivers to resolve issues
• Providing resources for ad-hoc collections via drivers or couriers/agencies
• Completing all documentation and systems accurately, in line with company and legislative requirements
• Setting and monitoring Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for Service, Cost, Productivity, Transport, and Health & Safety
• Achieving 'Depot Clear' in line with depot targets

Qualifications

What we’re looking for:

• Experience in a fast-paced operation with proven people management skills, preferably within a transport setting
• Strong communication skills to inspire, motivate, and manage teams
• Decisive decision-making, problem-solving, and time management abilities
• High resilience, self-motivation, and flexibility
• Excellent computer skills, including proficiency with Google Chrome applications
• Ability to produce comprehensive reports and analyze data
• Vigilance to unscrupulous activity with swift, appropriate action
