Job summary

Ethero is seeking a dedicated Cell Leader (Shift Manager) in Telford for a permanent role with an annual salary of £40,750 (inclusive shift allowance). The position requires leadership of manufacturing teams, adherence to safety and quality standards, and ongoing process improvement.

The role involves supervising and coaching associates, managing HR matters such as absence and performance, and coordinating shift transitions to maintain production targets in a large automotive manufacturing

Qualifications

• Previous management experience in manufacturing.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Minimum 3 years of people management experience.
• Strong numerical and analytical ability.
• Proficient in MS Office, especially Excel and PowerPoint.
• Experience with Lean/Kaizen methods.
• Proven ability to motivate and coach associates to meet targets.
• Team player with effective delegation and time management.
• Strong Health and Safety knowledge and risk assessment training.

Responsibilities

• Supervise, train and support associates within departments and communicate with management and stakeholders.
• Lead health and safety, procedures and company policies by example.
• Address issues or escalate as required to protect operations.
• Lead shift briefings covering safety, quality, TPM, absence and targets.
• Manage HR matters such as absence, performance, disciplinary actions and grievances.
• Oversee hours via T&A and arrange extra shifts when needed.
• Coach Team Leaders to develop process expertise and training skills.
• Support quality system audits.
• Ensure smooth transitions between shifts and proper escalation.
• Promote Health, Safety and Environmental awareness within the department.
• Conduct daily safety checks and risk assessments for maintenance.
• Investigate, report and action Lost Time or minor accidents per policy.
• Ensure COSHH and manual handling requirements are met.

Rotational Shifts 7am-3pm 3pm-11pm Monday to Friday

Key responsibilities & duties:

• Responsible for supervising, training, and supporting associates within their departments. Effectively communicating information to relevant management, stakeholder and associates, championing continuous improvement and compliance within their area.
• Leadership style stemming from a lead-by example' approach in regard to matters of Health and Safety, operational procedures and company policies.
• Ownership and ability to address or escalating issues outside their responsibly aptly when required.
• Ensure team briefings happen every shift covering all issues including Health & Safety, Environment, Quality, 5s/TPM, absence and targets.
• Manage departmental HR issues such as absence management, performance, disciplinary & grievance, and development through the use of formal procedures.
• Management of Associates hours through the Time & Attendance (T&A), organise additional working hours as required to complete tasks, subject to appropriate levels.
• Coach and develop Team Leaders to ensure they are process experts and have the tools to aptly train others.
• Support quality systems audits.
• Confirm effective transitions between shifts.
• Ensure escalation procedures are working correctly.
• Prioritize the operational output and any breakdowns that may occur to ensure smooth operational recovery and seeking stakeholder support where required.
• To promote Health, Safety and Environmental awareness within the department. Ensuring safety requirements are understood, issued and enforced.
• Perform daily safety checks and regular safety audits, ensure that processes are safe, and the team understand/follow safety rules, processes and procedures.
• Compile and review Risk Assessments and Safe Systems of Work (SSoW) for all maintenance activities undertaken by their Associates taking into account all relevant environmental issues.
• Responsible for ensuring all Lost Time, Minor and Trivial accidents are investigated, reported, recorded and actioned in line with Company procedures.
• Ensure that COSHH and manual handling requirements are met.

Essential knowledge, skills and experience:

• Previous Management Experience within Manufacturing.
• Excellent written & verbal communication skills.
• Minimum of 3 years managing people experience.
• High level of numerical and analytical ability.
• Proficiency in MS Office Suite, especially Excel & Power Point.
• Proven Presentation Skills.
• Experience of Lean Management Techniques or Kaizen.
• Proven ability at motivating, involving and engaging Associates to deliver departmental objectives.
