Job summary

Hunter Selection is seeking an experienced Shift Manager in Northampton to lead the operation at their flagship UK site. You will drive improvements, manage a team of three team leaders and around forty staff, and ensure safe, efficient production on a rotating schedule.

This role requires proactive leadership from the shop floor, Lean manufacturing knowledge, and strong decision-making, especially on night shifts.

Qualifications

• Experience in a busy manufacturing operation.
• Managed a team of similar size to three team leads and ~40 staff.
• Proactive leadership from the shop floor with ownership.
• Knowledge of lean manufacturing: 5S, Kaizen, RCA.
• Strong decision-making skills on night shifts.

Responsibilities

• Lead a team of three team leaders and around forty staff.
• Be the most senior on site when on night shift.
• Carry out shift handovers and floor walks with team members.
• Monitor production plans, review reports, and KPI performance.
• Train and manage the performance of team leaders.
• Manage factory workflow, planning, and identify improvements.
• Collaborate with engineering, safety, quality, sales and planning.

Would you like to work for a growing local business, that has the job security of being part of a multi-billion-pound global manufacturer, at their flagship UK site.

They are looking for an experienced Shift Manager to lead the operation, drive improvements and develop various teams.

Role & Responsibilities of the Shift Manager

• Working closely with the other Shift Managers, leading a team of X3 team leaders & X40 staff
• When working on the night shift, be the most senior person on site
• Carry out shift handovers, floor walks speaking to team members and team leaders
• Monitor production plans, overlook reports, KPi performance management
• Training and performance management of team leaders
• Manage factory workflow, planning, identify areas of improvement, maximise output
• Work closely with engineering, safety, quality, sales & planning teams

Knowledge, Skills & Experience need to be a Shift Manager

• Proactive person - leading from the shopfloor
• Must have worked in a busy manufacturing operation previously
• Managed a similar size team / structure
• Able to demonstrate solid leadership skills and ownership
• Target and results driven person
• Six Sigma, IOSH, ILM qualified
• Strong decision making skills - able to make things happen strategically when on night shift
• Knowledge of lean manufacturing - 5S, Kaizen, RCA
