Job summary

Staffline in Bolton is seeking an experienced Shift Manager to lead a high-volume, regulated production line during an exciting period of site expansion. You will manage end-to-end shift performance, coach the team, and drive quality, targets and lean improvements.

The role requires 5+ years in production/shift management, strong knowledge of IATF 16949, PPAP, APQP and FMEA, and hands-on experience with MES/ERP systems. A £45,000 base salary plus bonus and private healthcare are on offer.

Qualifications

• 5+ years' experience in production or shift management within a manufacturing environment
• Experience implementing lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, or similar CI tools
• Experience coordinating crossfunctional teams and working with OEM customers
• Strong analytical skills with a practical, solutions-focused mindset
• Excellent communication skills, able to influence at all levels
• Experience using MES, ERP systems and Microsoft Office for reporting and analysis
• Ability to manage priorities, deadlines and smooth shift handovers

Responsibilities

• Manage and supervise all production activities during your shift, ensuring alignment with build schedules and preSOP readiness
• Lead, motivate and develop the manufacturing team; conduct performance reviews and address staffing or performance issues
• Ensure product quality standards are met, responding quickly to defects or process issues
• Monitor KPIs including output, yield and efficiency, reporting performance to senior management
• Oversee equipment use, troubleshooting issues to minimise downtime and maximise productivity
• Resolve operational issues such as bottlenecks, equipment failure or supply chain disruption
• Ensure compliance with industry standards, environmental regulations and internal policies
• Drive continuous improvement through lean manufacturing and process optimisation initiatives
• Mentor and develop Production Team Members (PTMs), embedding lean thinking and accountability
• Act as a senior site contact during outofhours periods, supporting wider business needs

The Opportunity

An exciting opportunity has arisen due to site expansion and the launch of a new production line at a wellestablished, global manufacturing operation in Bolton. We're seeking an experienced Shift Manager to play a key role in driving operational excellence, team performance, and continuous improvement within a highvolume, regulated manufacturing environment.

The Role

As Shift Manager, you will be accountable for the endtoend performance of your shift on a modern manufacturing line. You'll lead, coach and develop your team while ensuring production targets, quality standards and compliance requirements are consistently achieved.
