Job Description

We are currently recruiting for an experienced Shift Manager to strengthen our depot operations management team.

In this role, you will work closely with our self-employed Owner Drivers (ODs) and employed drivers, building strong relationships with them and keeping the drivers engaged, well-managed, and motivated to ensure outstanding service delivery.

Key responsibilities include:

1. Achieving depot targets for Core Routes.
2. Achieving depot targets for Stops Per Route (SPR).
3. Properly setting all other delivery and collection routes.
4. Ensuring all drivers scan and load their vans for delivery safely, timely, and efficiently.
5. Maintaining ongoing communication with drivers to resolve issues.
6. Ensuring adequate resources are available for ad-hoc collections, either via your pool of drivers or couriers/agencies.
7. Completing all relevant documentation and systems accurately, in line with company and legislative requirements.
8. Setting and monitoring Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) including Service, Cost, Productivity, Transport, and Health & Safety.
9. Achieving 'Depot Clear' in line with depot targets.

Qualifications

• Experience in a fast-paced operation with proven people management skills, ideally within a transport setting.
• Strong communication skills to inspire, motivate, and manage a team.
• Decisive decision-making, problem-solving, and time management skills.
• High resilience, self-motivation, and flexibility.
• Excellent computer skills, including Google Chrome applications.
• Ability to produce comprehensive reports and analyze data.
• Vigilance against unscrupulous activity, with swift and appropriate action.
