Job summary

Pure Data Centres Group is seeking a hands-on Team Leader for London to manage on-shift maintenance, monitor site performance, and lead a team of engineers and apprentices. You will coordinate planned and reactive maintenance, drive safety, and ensure 100% uptime of essential data centre infrastructure.

The role includes incident management, change control, and close collaboration with engineering and operations teams to maintain reliability and customer service standards.

Qualifications

• Recognised technical qualification in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering (e.g., NVQ, City & Guilds, BTEC).
• Authorised Person / AP12 / AP15 or equivalent (Electrical) certification, or demonstrable AP experience under Safety Rules.
• IT literate (MS Office, CMMS/CAFM).
• Desirable management training in leading teams.
• IOSH Working Safely (Desirable).
• Minimum 2 years post-qualification leadership experience.
• Experience in critical environments (data centre, hospital, utilities).
• Experience in customer-facing roles in high-pressure settings.
• Knowledge of safe systems of work (PTW, RAMS, Change Management).
• Strong knowledge of BMS, PPM, CAFM, and Change Management processes.
• Knowledge of international HSE standards and safe electrical/mechanical practices.
• Experience maintaining HVAC, chillers, cooling towers, LV/MV, UPS, generators.
• Strong troubleshooting and repair of critical building infrastructure.
• Ability to follow procedures and maintain CMMS records.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and deliver planned, preventative, and reactive maintenance across site systems as directed by senior management.
• Own on-shift site performance, monitor asset condition, alarms, and operational trends to ensure uptime and reliability.
• Mentor engineers and apprentices to develop skills and capability.
• Utilise change management system for planning and labour management to maintain uptime and avoid customer impact.
• Identify deficiencies and propose improvements to boost site performance.
• Produce incident reports and drive corrective actions.
• Lead incident and emergency response at site level, including equipment failures and evacuations.
• Coordinate with internal teams and contractors to safely deliver maintenance and customer-impacting activities.
• Maintain accurate CMMS/CAFM data, asset info, and maintenance records.
• Direct line management of Shift Maintenance Engineers and oversight of on-shift engineers.
