Job summary

Hyatt Regency Birmingham is seeking a Shift Engineer to keep the hotel in good working order and ensure a safe, comfortable environment for guests and colleagues. The role covers planned maintenance, urgent repairs, and upkeep of facilities, with a rotating 37.5-hour week that may include weekends.

You will perform painting, decorating, and minor repairs across guest rooms and public areas, maintaining high standards and safety.

Qualifications

• Experience in a similar role within a hotel or facilities environment.
• Ability to perform general maintenance tasks including painting, plumbing, electrical and joinery work.
• Capable of working on your own initiative with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

• Carry out general maintenance and repair work throughout the hotel.
• Complete planned preventative maintenance (PPM) tasks in guest rooms and public areas.
• Undertake painting and decorating to maintain a high standard of appearance.
• Repair and maintain furniture, fixtures, fittings and equipment.
• Respond promptly to maintenance issues and staff requests.
• Conduct regular inspections and report faults or safety concerns.
• Ensure work complies with health and safety requirements.
• Keep maintenance records up to date.
• Collaborate with contractors when required.
