Job summary

Finsbury Food Group in Sheffield is seeking an experienced engineer to lead the shift engineering team, deputise for the Engineering Shift Manager, and drive maintenance plans. You'll oversee safety, contractor management and continuous improvement, while guiding development of the on-site engineering staff.

Qualifications

• An experienced Engineer with a strong Mechanical or Electrical background.
• Experience in plant maintenance and CMMS systems.
• People manager with a coaching/mentoring approach to development.
• Knowledge of manufacturing processes, facilities management and statutory engineering legislation.
• Confident managing contractors, permits to work, risk assessments and method statements.
• Strong communicator and confident decision maker who can influence at all levels.
• Self-motivated, well organized and able to prioritise workloads and work independently.
• Experience in maintenance and inspection processes and formal documentation.
• Resilient, flexible and proactive with a focus on Health & Safety and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

• Lead shift engineering team and deputise for the Engineering Shift Manager.
• Drive the maintenance plan and deliver key engineering priorities.
• Support contractor control, permits to work, risk assessments and method statements.
• Maintain high Health & Safety standards across the department.
• Coach and mentor the engineering team and conduct return-to-work reviews when required.
• Deliver plant improvement projects and identified continuous improvement actions.
• Support Operating Brilliance and collaborate across functions as needed.
• Work closely with Engineering Stores to ensure spare parts availability and supplier relations.
