Job summary

Tata Steel UK is seeking a Shift Engineer in Port Talbot to provide specialist Process Control & Automation support on shift. You will diagnose faults, lead improvements, and ensure safety, reliability and performance targets across manufacturing assets.

You'll work with operations, maintenance and contract staff to optimise plant operations, manage automation systems, and champion continuous improvement initiatives on site.

Qualifications

• Degree, HNC or HND in a relevant Engineering discipline, with practical industrial experience.
• Ability to make informed engineering decisions and lead shift activities.
• Strong problem-solving skills with cross-shift impact awareness.
• Experience using SAP for maintenance management, including work orders and planning.

Responsibilities

• Provide specialist PC&A support to maintain and enhance manufacturing assets and plant availability.
• Act as senior engineering representative on shift and lead continuous improvement initiatives.
• Ensure compliance with health, safety, environmental and regulatory requirements.
• Supervise engineers and contractors, managing planned and reactive maintenance via SAP.
• Collaborate with operations, maintenance and projects to optimise plant performance and deliver engineering excellence.
