Job summary

Tata Steel UK is recruiting a Shift Engineer (Process Control & Automation) at Port Talbot. You will be the senior engineering on shift, diagnosing faults, maintaining PLC/SCADA and instrumentation, and driving performance improvements across the site.

You will work with operations, maintenance teams and contractors to ensure asset reliability, safety and compliance with statutory requirements, while delivering engineering excellence.

Qualifications

Degree, HNC or HND in a relevant Engineering discipline with industrial experience.
Ability to diagnose complex faults and lead shift engineering activities.
Experience with SAP for maintenance management and planning.

Responsibilities

Diagnose faults on manufacturing process equipment and lead repairs.
Maintain Level 0-3 automation systems (PLC, SCADA, instrumentation).
Ensure maintenance safety, quality, and environmental standards.
Lead continuous improvement and root cause analysis.
Supervise engineers and contractors on shift.
Manage maintenance work through SAP and backlog control.
Support COMAH, PUWER, DSEAR, LOLER compliance and safety permits.
