Job summary

Omega in Wrexham is seeking a skilled Shift Engineer to join our food manufacturing site on a continental shift pattern. You will carry out planned and reactive maintenance on packaging and production equipment to ensure safe, efficient operation with minimal downtime.

You will diagnose mechanical and electrical faults, support production teams to maximise uptime, complete preventative maintenance, and contribute to continuous improvement while adhering to health, safety and quality standards.

Qualifications

• Level 3 qualification in an engineering discipline (or equivalent).
• Proven experience working within a manufacturing environment (food, FMCG, or similar highly regulated sector preferred).
• Strong fault-finding skills across mechanical and/or electrical systems.
• A proactive, team-focused approach with good communication skills.
• Ability to work calmly under pressure and make sound engineering decisions.

Responsibilities

• Carry out planned and reactive maintenance on manufacturing and packaging equipment.
• Quickly diagnose and resolve mechanical and electrical faults to minimise downtime.
• Support production teams to ensure machinery operates at optimal efficiency.
• Complete preventative maintenance tasks in line with site schedules.
• Ensure all work is carried out in compliance with health & safety, food safety, and quality standards.
• Accurately record maintenance activities and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
• Assist with equipment improvements, breakdown root cause analysis, and minor project work.
• Work effectively on a continental shift pattern, handing over clearly between shifts.
