Job summary

Zest are recruiting a Multi-Skilled Shift Engineer for night shifts at their Peterborough site. The role covers planned and reactive maintenance on high-speed production and packaging equipment, with a focus on quick fault finding and repairs to minimise downtime.

You will work a Panama-like 7 in 14 night schedule and collaborate with production to drive continuous improvements and uphold food safety standards.

Qualifications

• Recognised engineering qualification (NVQ Level 3, HNC or equivalent apprenticeship).
• Multi-skilled background with electrical and mechanical capabilities.
• Experience in FMCG/food manufacturing or fast-paced production.
• Willingness to work permanent nights on a 7 in 14 pattern.

Responsibilities

• Carry out planned and reactive maintenance across high-speed production and packaging equipment.
• Fault find and repair electrical and mechanical breakdowns to minimise downtime.
• Work a night shift pattern of 7 shifts in 14, with 7 off in return.
• Work closely with production to support continuous improvement across the site.
• Maintain accurate maintenance records and ensure compliance with food safety standards.

Multi-Skilled Shift Engineer (Nights)

Salary: 61,000

Shift Pattern: 7 shifts in 14, nights only (similar to a Panama pattern)

Commutable from: Peterborough, Stamford, Spalding, March, Huntingdon, Wisbech, Corby, etc.

Our client is a well-established food manufacturing business based in Peterborough, supplying major retailers across the UK. Due to continued growth, they're looking to add a Multi-Skilled Shift Engineer to their night team, on an excellent shift pattern that gives you more family time than a standard rotation.

The Role

• Carry out planned and reactive maintenance across high-speed production and packaging equipment
• Fault find and repair electrical and mechanical breakdowns to minimise downtime
• Work a night shift pattern of 7 shifts in 14 (similar to a Panama pattern), with 7 off in return
• Work closely with production to support continuous improvement across the site
• Maintain accurate maintenance records and ensure work is completed in line with food safety standards

What We're Looking For

• A recognised engineering qualification (NVQ Level 3, HNC, or equivalent apprenticeship)
• Multi-skilled background - electrical or mechanical bias considered, but competent across both
• Experience within FMCG, food manufacturing, or a similarly fast-paced production environment
• Happy working permanent nights on a 7 in 14 shift pattern
• A proactive, hands-on approach with strong fault-finding skills
