Job summary

Zest, a well-established food manufacturer, is recruiting a Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer to join the engineering team on a 12-hour night shift at a modern production facility in East Hertfordshire, commutable from Bishop's Stortford, Harlow, Sawbridgeworth and Stansted.

You will respond rapidly to breakdowns, carry out live repairs, deliver planned maintenance and predictive maintenance, support uptime and OEE targets, lead improvement projects, maintain logs, and ensure GMP and health &

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years' engineering experience.
• NVQ Level 3 or above in engineering or equivalent qualification.
• Nationally recognised engineering apprenticeship.
• 16th or 17th Edition Certification.
• Experience in food manufacturing is essential.
• Strong fault-finding and breakdown analysis skills.

Responsibilities

• Respond rapidly to breakdowns and minimise downtime.
• Carry out repairs during live production, alone and with a team.
• Deliver planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and support predictive maintenance.
• Contribute to plant uptime and OEE improvement targets.
• Identify and deliver improvement projects on machinery and site infrastructure.
• Maintain accurate engineering logs and complete work orders on time.
• Liaise with external contractors and support stores/stock control.
• Work to GMP and site hygiene standards and health & safety requirements.

Shift: 12-hour night shift

Our client is an established food manufacturer producing from a modern production facility. They're looking for a Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer to join their Engineering team on nights, supporting the site through breakdown response, planned maintenance, and continuous improvement work.

The Role

• Respond rapidly to breakdowns and minimise equipment downtime
• Carry out repairs during live production, alone and as part of a team
• Deliver planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and support predictive maintenance
• Contribute to plant uptime and OEE improvement targets
• Identify and deliver improvement projects on machinery and site infrastructure
• Maintain accurate engineering logs and complete work orders on time
• Liaise with external contractors and support stores/stock control
• Work to Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) and site hygiene standards
• Ensure all work meets Health & Safety standards, company and legal

What We're Looking For

• Minimum 3 years' engineering experience
• Multi-skilled with a recognised engineering qualification (NVQ Level 3 or above), electrical or mechanical
• A nationally recognised engineering apprenticeship
• 16th or 17th Edition Certification
• Proven experience within food manufacturing (essential)
• Strong fault-finding and breakdown analysis skills
• Confidence working independently and within a team
• Computer literate, with working knowledge of MS Office and a PPM system
• Ability to read electrical and mechanical drawings
