Maintenance Technician - Electrical
Provide skilled maintenance services to meet the desired standards, specifications, and competency levels required.
Respond to customer requests in compliance with agreed service levels and participate in shift operations with other team members.
Act as Performing Authority for Permit Control Process and as a competent person issuer for contractors on Control of Works and Risk assessments/Method Statements.
Perform duties of an Electrical/Mechanical Competent Person as defined within local site rules.
Key Responsibilities:
- Work as part of a shift team operating a rotating shift system, with willingness to work occasional overtime for cover.
- Perform routine inspections, preventative maintenance, and reactive repairs on electrical systems including UPS, generators, switchgear, and lighting systems.
- Monitor and maintain critical infrastructure systems to ensure performance and compliance, especially in high-pressure environments.
- Respond to and resolve electrical faults promptly, minimizing downtime, with proper documentation.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to execute maintenance activities with minimal operational disruption.
- Maintain electrical/mechanical plant and services at client sites to industry standards.
- Undertake maintenance procedures, checks, and inspections on equipment, ensuring timely completion.
- Ensure continuous operation of installed systems.
- Perform repairs and minor works related to installed services and small installation projects.
- Enhance service delivery through best practices and effective use of site systems and equipment.
- Carry out personal risk assessments for maintenance activities.
- Complete service reports and data entry into CMMS within specified timeframes.
- Maintain and review stock levels and spares through audits and timely ordering.
- Supervise specialist contractors during service visits.
- Communicate effectively with all relevant parties and team members.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Fully qualified Electrician with NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in Electrical Installation.
- 17th or 18th Edition Wiring Regulations certification.
- Proven experience in a critical or high-security environment such as data centers, financial institutions, or industrial sites.
- Strong knowledge of electrical systems, building services, and control systems.
- Experience with critical systems like UPS and standby generators.
- Good customer service and communication skills.
- Self-motivated and able to work as part of a busy team.
- Flexible approach to work scheduling.
