Job summary

Shift Engineer role based in Birmingham is a hands-on, multi-skilled position supporting production equipment, plant services and site improvement projects. You will diagnose faults and carry out both planned and reactive maintenance.

Continental 4 on 4 off shifts (2x12 hour days and 2x12 hour nights) averaging 42 hours per week. You will read diagrams, use CMMS, and coordinate contractors to keep systems safe and compliant.

Qualifications

• Hands-on mechanical and electrical maintenance experience.
• Experience with heavy motorised and hydraulic plant, steam, boilers or high-pressure systems.
• Ability to read electrical or fluid control diagrams; CMMS experience.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical faults to keep equipment running safely.

We're recruiting two Continental Shift Engineers for an established manufacturing business in Birmingham. This is a hands-on, multi-skilled role supporting production equipment, plant services and site improvement projects.

Continental Shifts, 4 on 4 off. 2x12 hour days (6am - 6pm) and 2x12 hour nights (6pm - 6am) Average 42 hrs per week.

The role

• Diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical faults to keep equipment running safely and reliably.
• Carry out planned and reactive maintenance on production equipment and plant services.
• Work with heavy motorised and hydraulic plant, steam generation, boilers and high-pressure fluid systems.

What we're looking for

You’ll need practical mechanical and electrical maintenance experience, including a systematic approach to fault finding. Experience with heavy motorised and hydraulic plant, steam generation or boiler house operations, and high-pressure fluid systems is required. A recognised engineering apprenticeship or BTEC qualification would be beneficial, as would the ability to read electrical or fluid control diagrams and experience using a CMMS.
