Job summary

ETS Consulting Ltd in Birmingham seeks a Multi-skilled Maintenance Engineer to maintain heavy motorised and hydraulic plant in a plastics and rubber environment, including rolling mills, extrusion, moulding and press operations.

The role covers steam generation, boiler house operation and high‑pressure fluid systems, plus mechanical/electrical energy isolation, CMMS usage, basic machining and welding skills. Salary £55,818 + pension, overtime and benefits.

Qualifications

• Apprentice trained in electrical engineering.
• Experience of PLC systems and automated machinery.
• Understanding of PPM systems.

Responsibilities

• Experience with heavy motorised and hydraulic plant in rubber/plastics industry (rolling mills/extrusion/moulding/press shop).
• Experience with steam generation, boiler house operation and high pressure fluid systems (large steam boilers and steam distribution/high pressure hot water systems/process steam control).
• Mechanical and electrical capability to identify and safely isolate equipment with multiple energy sources (electricity, steam, hydraulics, pneumatics, large motors).
• Experience with a CMMS system and reporting.
• Must be physically fit and able to work in hot or confined spaces.
• Basic machining skills (radial drill, lathe).
• Ability to weld (MIG, MMA) / fabrication skills.

The Role

• Experience of heavy motorised and hydraulic plant. Rubber and plastics industry with experience of rolling mills / extrusion / moulding / press shop.
• Experience of steam generation, boiler house operation and high pressure fluid systems. Experience with large steam boilers and steam distribution / high pressure hot water systems / process steam control.
• Mechanical and Electrical experience, ability to identify, safely isolate and work on equipment that have multiple sources of energy. Electricity, steam, hydraulics, pneumatics, large motors (1000HP or greater).
• Experience with a CMMS system and reporting.
• Must have a good degree of physical fitness and able to work in uncomfortable environment at times (heat, confined spaces).
• Basic machining skills (radial drill, lathe).
• Ability to weld (MIG, MMA) / fabrication skills.
