Job summary

Fourway Coaches, a West Yorkshire coach operator, is seeking a full-time Shift Controller in Cleckheaton. You will coordinate daily operations, allocate drivers, schedule vehicles and routes to keep services safe and on time.

You will monitor live operations, manage disruptions, and keep customers informed while maintaining records and ensuring compliance with policies and regulations. This on-site role requires strong planning, clear communication, and a focus on safety.

Qualifications

• Strong operational coordination and planning skills for scheduling and rota management.
• Proficient communication and interpersonal abilities to liaise with drivers, colleagues, and customers.
• Competent with basic IT systems including scheduling software, spreadsheets, and email.
• Ability to stay calm under pressure, prioritise tasks, and make sound decisions in time-sensitive situations.
• Knowledge of passenger transport operations or experience in transport/logistics is advantageous.

Role Description

This is a full-time, on-site Shift Controller role based in Cleckheaton. The Shift Controller will coordinate daily coach operations, including managing driver allocations, vehicle scheduling, and route planning to ensure services run safely and on time. Responsibilities include monitoring live operations, responding to service disruptions, communicating updates to drivers and other internal stakeholders, and maintaining accurate records of shifts and services. The role also involves liaising with customers, handling enquiries related to services or schedules, and supporting compliance with company policies and transport regulations. The Shift Controller will work closely with operations management to optimize resource use and maintain high service standards across all routes and contracts.

Qualifications

• Relevant vocational or academic qualifications in transport operations, logistics, or a related field are beneficial.
