Job summary

Danny Sullivan Group is seeking a Senior SHEQ Advisor to support major infrastructure and civil engineering projects across the Midlands. You will lead safety, health, environment and quality initiatives, drive improvements, and ensure compliance with UK legislation and company procedures on multiple sites.

Working closely with operations and commercial teams, you will conduct audits, RAMS reviews, incident investigations, and training to promote a proactive safety culture and robust ISO

Qualifications

  • NEBOSH General or Construction Certificate (or equivalent).
  • IOSH membership minimum; CMIOSH desirable.
  • Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel across sites.
  • Experience with audits and RAMS documentation and safety processes.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure compliance with relevant legislation, industry standards, and company policies
  • Conduct regular site inspections, audits, and assurance checks
  • Produce and review risk assessments, method statements (RAMS), and safe systems of work
  • Lead incident investigations, identifying root causes and implementing corrective actions
  • Monitor and report on SHEQ performance, trends, and KPIs
  • Support and influence operational teams to embed a positive safety culture
  • Deliver briefings, toolbox talks, and SHEQ-related training where required
  • Liaise with clients, contractors, and external stakeholders on SHEQ matters
  • Assist in maintaining ISO management systems (ISO 9001, 14001, 45001)
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives across projects

Senior SHEQ Advisor

Location: Midlands (site-based across multiple major infrastructure projects)

Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced Senior SHEQ Advisor to support the delivery of major infrastructure and civil engineering projects across the Midlands. This role will take a lead position in promoting and maintaining high standards of Safety, Health, Environment and Quality (SHEQ), ensuring compliance with both statutory requirements and company procedures.

Working closely with operational and commercial teams, you will provide practical guidance, challenge unsafe behaviours, and drive a proactive safety culture across multiple sites.

Key Responsibilities
  • Ensure compliance with relevant legislation, industry standards, and company policies
  • Conduct regular site inspections, audits, and assurance checks
  • Produce and review risk assessments, method statements (RAMS), and safe systems of work
  • Lead incident investigations, identifying root causes and implementing corrective actions
  • Monitor and report on SHEQ performance, trends, and KPIs
  • Support and influence operational teams to embed a positive safety culture

Requirements
  • Proven experience in a Senior SHEQ Advisor or similar role
  • Strong background in construction or infrastructure projects
  • Civils experience preferred (e.g. highways, rail, utilities, earthworks)
  • NEBOSH General or Construction Certificate (or equivalent)
  • Membership of IOSH (minimum), working towards or holding CMIOSH desirable
  • Good working knowledge of UK health & safety and environmental legislation
  • Experience with audits, inspections, and incident investigations
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to challenge and influence at all levels
  • Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel across sites
  • Experience on major frameworks (e.g. National Highways, Network Rail, HS2)
  • Environmental or quality-related qualifications
  • Experience working across multi-site operations
