Job summary

Bekaert is seeking a proactive SH&E Manager to lead safety, health and environmental initiatives across the Newcastle sites (Willington and Neptune Quays). The role focuses on governance, continuous improvement, and compliance with SH&E standards.

The ideal candidate will have NEBOSH certification, strong communication, auditing and leadership skills, and experience driving risk reduction and staff involvement in SH&E programs. The position is based on-site in the UK.

Responsibilities

• Be the onsite SH&E champion and promote a no-harm, well-being culture.
• Guide management on SH&E targets and resource planning.
• Manage SH&E data and KPIs in the Enablon system and keep them updated.
• Develop a robust continuous improvement strategy for SH&E.
• Ensure compliance with legal and Bekaert requirements at all times.
• Develop programmes to reduce SH&E hazards and risks.
• Ensure SH&E records and reports are complete, accessible, and auditable.
• Report SH&E issues to local authorities and stakeholders as required.
• Coordinate SH&E inspections (gemba walks) and participate regularly.
• Encourage active involvement of all staff in SH&E initiatives.
• Liaise with external authorities and customers on SH&E performance.
• Assist the Site Operations Manager with SH&E committee meetings and minutes.
