Job summary

Ciwmjobs is seeking a Senior Health, Safety and Environment Manager to lead a strategic HSE function across a multi-site UK footprint, including head office, stores and distribution facilities. Based in Newcastle upon Tyne or nearby, you will own the HSE agenda and report to the Board.

You will steer a capable HSE/ESG team, drive governance, risk management and continuous improvement while championing a strong safety culture and credible safety leadership across the business.

Qualifications

• NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent qualification.
• Experience ISO 45001 and ISO 14001, risk management principles, compliance frameworks and regulatory engagement.
• Multi-site manager who has experience across supply chain, retail stores.
• Coach and mentor who can grow and develop a team.
• Strategically supported Health, Safety and Environment within a fast-paced business.
• Confident and credible at a senior level but who can still engage and have operational understanding.
• Calm in a crisis and able to prioritise tasks.

Responsibilities

• Lead the Health and Safety strategy to support business growth and operational excellence.
• Grow, coach, mentor and empower the H&S team and broader SHE community.
• Oversee the Management System with governance, assurance and risk control across the business.
• Be credible with senior stakeholders, influence decisions and challenge where needed.
• Use data and trend analysis to drive performance and identify emerging risks.
• Provide leadership on H&S legislation, regulatory requirements and best practices.
