Job summary

Bekaert is seeking a SH&E Manager to lead health, safety and environmental initiatives at our Newcastle sites in the UK. You will champion a no-harm culture, drive continuous improvement, ensure legal compliance, and manage SH&E data and training across the site.

With a background in SH&E and a NEBOSH General Certificate, you will collaborate with operations and HR to raise safety standards, coordinate audits, and report to management on performance and improvements.

Qualifications

• Minimum NEBOSH General Certificate qualification.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills with ability to engage at all levels.
• Ability to develop and deliver SH&E training programs.
• Proven ability to engage managers and employees, securing commitment to SH&E actions.
• Strong SH&E role model with leadership capability to drive change.
• Analytical mindset with strong problem-solving skills.
• Team player with collaborative approach; audits experience beneficial.
• Good working knowledge of MS Office and SharePoint databases.

Responsibilities

• Be the onsite SH&E champion for the site and drive a no-harm culture.
• Develop and implement SH&E plans and continuous improvement strategies.
• Ensure compliance with legal and Bekaert requirements; address non-compliance.
• Manage SH&E data and KPIs; report accurately to management.
• Liaise with external authorities and customers on SH&E performance.
• Coordinate SH&E training and awareness programs for staff.
• Record, investigate, and close out incidents and near misses with corrective actions.
• Lead site SH&E committee meetings and minutes.
