Job summary

Van Elle is seeking Setting Out Engineers to join the UK's largest geotechnical and ground engineering contractor. You will set out piles and beams on site, level and survey, and liaise with engineers to ensure plans are accurate, reporting progress to the survey department.

Key requirements include knowledge of construction practices, CSCS card, and proficiency in AutoCAD and MS Office. The role involves coordinating layouts, supervising subcontractors, and maintaining QA records across

Qualifications

• Knowledge of buildings, construction and reinforced concrete.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong organisational skills with high attention to detail.
• Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office applications.
• Understanding and interpretation of data and drawings.
• Experience with setting out, surveying and site measurements.
• Valid CSCS card is required.

Responsibilities

• Setting out piles and beams on site including as-built records.
• Setting out, levelling and surveying on site.
• Liaising between engineers and the construction team to ensure accuracy.
• Supply reinforced concrete setting out support to the team.
• Report site progress to engineering and survey departments.
• Coordinate pile/beam layouts with site drawings.
• Daily setting out and monitoring of works and quality assurance records.
• Assist in supervising subcontractors on site setting out.
• Check quantities for accuracy of calculations.
• Liaise with sub contractors, planners, QS and workforce.
• Attend site meetings and keep client/contracts manager informed of progress.
