Job summary

Wallace Hind Selection is recruiting for a Setting Out Engineer in the Home Counties/Northamptonshire area. You will be responsible for setting out and surveying on site, coordinating with the Site Manager and team, and producing essential project documentation. Residential housing exposure is preferred and a full driving licence is required.

The role involves working across multiple projects, ensuring accuracy against drawings and specs, and maintaining quality and safety standards on site.

Qualifications

• Must have proven track record as a Setting Out Engineer within civils.
• Residential housing experience preferred.
• Must hold a full clean driving licence.

Responsibilities

• Setting out and surveying works on site.
• Liaising with Site Manager and construction team.
• Producing RAMS, ITPs, RFIs and other project docs.
• Ensuring works adhere to drawings and specs.
• Checking levels, dimensions and quality of works.
• Maintaining accurate site records and docs.
• Supporting site teams with technical queries.

JOB DESCRIPTION

Setting Out Engineer - Civil Engineering, Surveying, Groundworks

• Setting out and surveying works on site
• Working closely with the Site Manager and wider construction team
• Producing and reviewing RAMS, ITPs, RFIs and other project documentation
• Ensuring works are carried out in accordance with drawings, specifications and approved procedures
• Checking levels, dimensions and quality of completed works
• Maintaining accurate site records and engineering documentation
• Assisting with technical queries and resolving site issues
• Liaising with subcontractors, suppliers and project management teams
• Monitoring construction activities and ensuring they are completed to the required standards
• Providing technical support and guidance to site teams
• Identifying potential issues and assisting with practical solutions
• Ensuring health, safety and quality requirements are maintained throughout the works

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Working on infrastructure, commercial and residential groundwork across main contractors, developers and major house builders
• Completing site surveys and essential site preparation
• Working on multiple projects across the Home Counties and Northamptonshire

PERSON SPECIFICATION

Setting Out Engineer - Civil Engineering, Surveying, Groundworks

• Have a proven track record as a Setting Out Engineer within the civils market
• Preferably have residential / housing experience
• Be able to use AUTOCAD and read technical drawings from architects
• Be either on the books or self employed, would consider both (ideally on the books)
• You will hold a BTEC or Level 3 qualification in civil engineering or surveying, but we welcome applicants who have a HNC, HND or Degree in civil engineering or surveying
• You will need a full clean driving license
