Job summary

Octane Recruitment is seeking a Level 3 qualified Vehicle Technician or a Level 2 Technician with 3+ years' experience for a leading UK automotive group in Reading. The role offers a strong basic salary (£37,284) plus bonuses and overtime potential.

You will service and repair vehicles to manufacturer standards, perform eVHC checks, and maintain accurate records. NVQ Level 3 or equivalent is required; franchised dealer experience is preferred. Benefits include generous leave and pension.

Responsibilities

• Carry out vehicle servicing including oil changes and filter replacements.
• Diagnose and repair faults across braking, steering, suspension and basic engine systems.
• Complete electronic Vehicle Health Checks (eVHCs) and record findings.
• Record accurate technical findings and parts requirements on digital job cards.
• Complete standard warranty repairs following factory protocols and timeframes.
• Maintain workshop productivity to meet efficiency and first-time fix targets.

Vehicle Technician / Mechanic role for a Level 3 qualified Technician, or a Level 2 Technician / Mechanic with at least 3 years’ experience, working with one of the UK’s leading automotive groups on a wide range of vehicles. Excellent salary, benefits, overtime, and bonus opportunities available.

Vehicle Technician Requirements:

• NVQ Level 3 in Light Vehicle Maintenance and Repair (or equivalent IMI / City & Guilds qualification).
• Hands-on workshop experience as a mechanic or technician, ideally within a franchised dealership environment.

Vehicle Technician Job role:

• Carry out comprehensive vehicle servicing, including oil changes, filter replacements, and component updates, in line with manufacturer standards.
• Diagnose and repair mechanical faults across braking, steering, suspension, and basic engine systems.
• Complete thorough Electronic Vehicle Health Checks (eVHCs) to identify and record any work required.
