Job summary

Family Action is seeking a Service Manager for the Wigan Crisis Space to lead a community-based mental health service. The role focuses on safe, person-centred support for adults in distress and requires strong leadership, safeguarding expertise and collaboration with local partners.

The post is full-time, 37 hours per week, with out-of-hours and weekend management on a rota basis, on-site in Wigan. Salary around £40,300 per year with generous leave and pension benefits.

Qualifications

• Experience of managing and leading teams within health, social care, voluntary sector or community-based services.
• Knowledge of safeguarding legislation, best practice and policy relating to mental health needs.
• Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management or equivalent.
• Relevant professional qualification in health, social care, counselling, psychology, community development, or related field.

Responsibilities

• Lead the Wigan Crisis Space to deliver safe, effective and person-centred support for adults in distress.
• Strengthen integrated support by working with users, community organisations and pathway partners.
• Manage and develop staff and volunteers, overseeing recruitment, supervision and safeguarding standards.
• Embed co-production, maintain records and provide performance/funder reporting.
• Develop volunteering, support budgeting/resources and contribute to funding opportunities.
