Rethink Mental Illness is recruiting a Service Manager to lead Bristol Men’s Crisis House in Avonmouth. This full-time role focuses on delivering person-centred support, safeguarding, and high-quality service delivery.

You will supervise staff, manage incidents, and develop outcome-focused plans for residents, ensuring safety, compliance, and continuous service improvement within a supportive team.

Qualifications

  • Experience in an operational management role within housing or health/social care.
  • Strong knowledge of current regulations and person-centred service delivery.
  • Experience supervising and leading staff; capable of safeguarding responsibilities.
  • Experience working with people with severe mental illness.

Responsibilities

  • Provide effective line management to staff and manage conduct, performance and attendance.
  • Assume safeguarding lead role and report, maintaining professional relationships with safeguarding teams.
  • Oversee incident and accident reporting in line with legislation and contractual requirements.
  • Enhance service user experience through a complaints culture and recording.
  • Ensure safe, personalised services through assessments and outcome-focused reviews.
  • Develop aspirational support planning for residents.
  • Maintain safe systems of work, including lone working and safety policies.
  • Improve information quality on case/incident management systems and train staff.

Join Our Team as a Service Manager

Location: Avonmouth, Bristol

Hours: Full-time position available – 35 hours per week

Are you passionate about making a real difference in peoples lives? We’re looking for an experienced Service Manager to join and lead our dedicated team at Bristol Men’s Crisis House.

All our Accommodation services aim to support people to achieve maximum independence, and to move on to more independent accommodation. Bristol Men’s Crisis House service is an up to 14 night stay for men experiencing a Crisis.

We adopt a person-centred approach and involve people in every aspect of their support. This means offering a safe supportive environment whilst allowing individuals to engage with their community and make positive life choices, with active support to allow individuals to engage with positive risk taking.

How you will make a difference as a Service Manager:
  • I provide effective line management to staff, including dealing with conduct, performance and attendance issues under relevant policies and procedures.
  • I take a safeguarding lead role in the service, ensuring effective safeguarding practice and reporting. Establishing effective professional relationship with the safeguarding team.
  • I ensure effective incident and accident management recording, in line with legislation and contractual requirements, adhering to internal policies and procedures and regulatory notifications.
  • I maximise service user experience through developing an effective complaints management culture and recording in line with internal policies and procedures
  • I ensure the delivery of safe, personalised services to each individual service user through assessment, person-centred planning and regular outcome focused reviews of services.
  • I ensure the development of aspirational support planning for individual residents.
  • I ensure safe systems of work, such as personal safety and lone working; and compliance with all Rethink Mental Illness' safety policies and systems.
  • I develop the quality of information recorded on our case / incident management system and support staff in their use of the system and the culture of person-centred support planning.
Essential skills and experience:
  • Relevant experience in an operational management capacity in a supported housing or health/social care setting.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the current regulations and the need for the management and delivery of person-centred services.
  • Experience of providing effective supervision, leadership and management of staff.
  • Must have experience of directly working with people with a severe mental illness.
