Job summary

Veolia in Rochester is recruiting an LGV driver to join our transport operation, ensuring safety and quality in daily service delivery and proactive route planning. The role is full-time with a 40-hour week and Saturday rotation, offering £28,000 per annum plus bonus and Veolia benefits.

We seek someone educated to O-level standard with excellent communication and IT literacy. CPC and IOSH are desirable and training can be provided. Veolia values inclusion and a supportive workplace.

Qualifications

  • Educated to O-level standard or equivalent with excellent communication and good IT literacy.
  • CPC (Certificate of Professional Competence) holder is desirable.
  • IOSH (Institute of Occupational Safety and Health) is desirable, but could also be obtained during the role.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure Quality, Health, Safety and Environment remains the number one priority within the transport operation, providing a safe workplace for employees.
  • Manage the service delivery on a daily basis, including the dynamic planning of work to vehicles/routes, proactively communicating with customers, maintaining contact with drivers throughout the day, and undertaking debriefs.
  • Deliver service excellence including delivery, recovery and communication of non-service/missed lifts, assist to identify routing efficiencies and capacity, and manage container stock levels and driver communication.
  • Assist the Service Manager to ensure People management processes are adhered to in line with company policies.
  • Deliver Toolbox Talks to drivers and operatives; conduct first stage formal investigations as directed; adhere to Operator Licence obligations; manage day-to-day activities of drivers; work with Service Manager to deliver depot KPIs; log safety concerns and near misses in Ecoonline.

40 hours per week, Monday to Friday 8.00 AM- 5:00 PM (Saturday's 08:30 AM to 12:00 Midday on a Rota)

What you'll be doing:
  • Ensure Quality, Health, Safety and Environment remains the number one priority within the transport operation, providing a safe workplace for employees.
  • Manage the service delivery on a daily basis, including the dynamic planning of work to vehicles / routes, proactively communicating with customers, maintaining contact with drivers throughout the day, and undertaking debriefs
  • Ensure that Service excellence is delivered, this includes:
    • Delivery of service.
    • Recovery (next working day) and communication of non-service/missed lifts
    • within company parameters
    • Assist the Service Manager to identify routing efficiencies and capacity
    • Effective container stock level control and customer and driver communication
  • Assist the Service Manager to ensure People management processes and procedures are adhered to in line with company policies
  • Deliver Toolbox Talks to drivers and operatives
  • Conduct first stage formal investigations into accidents and incidents as directed by the Service Manager
  • Adhere to and comply with all aspects of Operator Licence obligations
  • Manage the day to day activities of all drivers at the depot including compliance, performance and leave entitlements
  • Work closely with the Service Manage to deliver depot KPI's
  • Ensure that all safety concerns and near misses are logged on Ecoonline and closed off within the company's agreed timescales and quality feedback is provided to originators.
What we're looking for:
  • Educated to O-level standard or equivalent experience, with excellent communication and good IT literacy
  • CPC (Certificate of Professional Competence) holder - desirable
  • IOSH (Institute of Occupational Safety and Health) - desirable, but could also be obtained during the role.
